How To Increase PHP Memory Size Limit (Fix ‘Allowed memory size’ error)

How To Increase The WordPress PHP Memory Limit

If you’re using a WordPress theme or plugin that requires a higher PHP memory limit or are getting an ‘allowed memory size’ error from WordPress, you can add the following line to ‘wp-config.php’ to increase the memory limit. ‘wp-config.php’ is usually located under your WordPress directory, which could be ‘/var/www/html’ or ‘var/www/html/wordpress’. Change the ’60M’ to whichever memory limit you want to set for WordPress.

define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '60M');

Another way to increase your PHP memory limit is to edit the ‘php.ini’ file and find the following line/change the number to the memory limit you need:

memory_limit = 256M;

How To Find php.ini

‘php.ini’ is a file containing PHP configuration and it can be found by typing ‘php –ini‘ at the command line and press enter or return. You can also find ‘php.ini’ by creating a PHP file and placing the following code in it, then loading the file in your browser:

<?php phpinfo();>

You can also run the following command to find it: ‘php -i | grep ‘php.ini‘.
