Mercedes-AMG has launched the 2024 CLE 53 coupe with a mild-hybrid powertrain and an auxiliary electric compressor to assist the turbocharger. The athletic-looking coupe is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six cylinder engine that produces 413 foot-pounds of torque, 443 HP (at speeds of 5,800 to 6,100 RPM). With overboost, it offers up to 443 foot-pounds of torque for ten seconds. It’s displacement is 2,999 CC and the coupe’s top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.
The AMG CLE 53 is also equipped with a 48-volt integrated starter-generator (ISG) that enables the car to improve fuel efficiency via regenerative braking. It also powers the car electrically at low speeds. The ISG supplies 23 HP and 151 foot-pounds of torque. The CLE 53 coupe can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4 seconds.
Enhanced 4-Wheel Steering
The AMG CLE 53 offers speed-sensitive steering that turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction of the front wheels at speed of up to 60 mph. If driving at speeds exceeding 60 mph, the rear wheels turn parallel to the front wheels. This behaviour varies depending on the AMG Dynamics setting. Mercedes says this feature improves steering response and turning circle. The turning circle improvement makes it easier to maneuver in and out of parking spaces.
The CLE-53 coupe arrives at U.S. dealerships in summer of 2024.
