Pennsylvania’s house of representatives has passed a bill (199-1 votes) that makes it illegal to track people without their permission using tracking devices such as Tiles or AirTags. Violating this anti-stalking law would be a third-degree misdemeanor. The bill is on it’s way to the senate.
The use of AirTags and other tracking devices to stalk people has grown in recent years and it is a threat to public safety due to their use by criminals to track down and assault, rob, or commit other crimes against victims. Many states have already prohibited this non-consensual tracking. Ohio is considering a similar law.
If you see someone trying to track another person with an AirTag, and that person isn’t their child or pet: Remind them that it is not only illegal in most states, but offensive.
