CD Projekt Red Staff Unionizes After Layoffs

CD Projekt Red (CDPR) — the Warsaw, Poland-based company that developed popular video games such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher has done their third round of layoffs in three months and the company’s developers have now unionized. The developers mentioned on the Polish Gamedev Workers’ Union website that they started discussion union formation after 9% of the company’s staff was laid off in 2023.

The developers said the layoffs resulted in stress and insecurity that prompted them to unionize and protect themselves during these uncertain times. This union is part of the larger OZZ IP union and the paperwork has been submitted to CD Projekt Red. Vancouver staff, and other staff not working on a Polish contract are not covered by the union. CDPR has not yet responded.
