BMW Warns Owners Not To Drive Certain Cars Due To Airbag Fault

BMW has sent out a warning telling customers not to drive certain models of cars due to a dangerous airbag fault in their Takata-built driver’s side airbags. 90,000 vehicles built between 2000 and 2006 are included and are also part of a recall.

The faulty airbag inflator can project shrapnel at the front passengers, which poses a serious safety hazard. Affected models include the E39 5 Series built from 2000 to 2003, the E53 X5 built between 2000 and 2004, as well as the M3 and M5.

Please look out for mail or emails from BMW or contact them yourself. They will fix it for free. Several other car brands are affected by the Takata airbag issue as well, and were recalled.
