Verifone To Let Retailers Accept Cryptocurrency

Verifone, one of the world’s largest providers of credit card machines announced on Twitter that they are integrating cryptocurrency payments in their credit card machines — thanks to a partnership with BitPay.

This is BitPay’s largest partnership to date, and would enable large brick and mortar stores to start accepting cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin as payment methods without having to implement the technology themselves.

This kind of over-the-air integration that Verifone doing is a great way to help cryptocurrency usage proliferate without much effort from retailers (if any).

The decision will enable online or in-store payments that are settled in traditional currency, which is convenient for stores that don’t yet know how cryptocurrency works.
